Sexual Gratification Definition

As Buddha once said, “the mind is everything. What you think, you become.” Can your childhood really be so bad that you get gratification out of killing innocent people? Does attention mean that much to someone? Is sexual pleasure really that important? These questions are popular when it comes to understanding the brain of serial killers. A serial killer is someone who has murdered three or more people over a period of more than a month, with a cooling-off period between murders (“56”). Your brain is literally the “master mind” when it comes to the things you do, say, or feel, but, what makes a serial killers brain think differently than ours? Often, the fear of rejection causes us to miss opportunities we could've had. We won’t talk to that guy we like or we don’t ask our parents if we can go somewhere but that’s usually as extreme as it gets, right? For a serial killer the fear of rejection is one of the main motives to killing someone (“What”). They fear that the person they are pursuing will not want them. Sexual gratification is a huge part of why they kill and it also ties into rejection. Most serial killers are known to have sex with the victim before they kill them and sometimes they even have sex with their corpses. Jeffrey killed 17 men between 1978 and 1991. He was sentenced to 15 consecutive life terms. He had a killing spree that lasted more than 13 years (“Jeffrey”). He sought out mostly African American men at gay meeting places, he promised them sex and money, then laced their drinks with drugs and strangled them to death. Dahmer is different than most killers because he dismembered his victims bodies and ate them.
