On Fortune's 500, only 6.4% of the list were female meaning that only 32 of the biggest companies by revenue are run by females. Even though it’s been 54 years since the Equal Pay Act was passed, women are still facing a major disadvantage in the workplace. Women often are thought to be secretaries by their superiors and are sent to fetch coffee because that is “all their job is”, even very few are in that specific line of work. Certain users may post many sexist remarks and not be approached by the company they are using to send this message through. These companies show their support for this vile negativity by not taking action. Ads and commercials show women as being “hard to please” or flawless In the way they look and act. These showings of impeccable people continue to make women feel terrible about themselves and they set an unrealistic goal of being like the person in the commercial. Women aren’t hard to please either, even though these ads show them being unnecessarily picky. Clearly, commercials, ads, and social media need to become a little more up to date when it comes to what women are truly
