The capability to select a child’s sex prenatally raises some moral questions: Even though we can do this, should we? Is it ethical? I am assuredly pro-choice, but I am not supportive of sex-selective abortions and I believe that they should be banned. I do not think that people should have the ability to select for a child’s sex because in most cases it is done for vanity purposes, such as “We already have a son, so we want a daughter this time to ‘balance the family.’” I believe that conception and pregnancy and childbirth are natural processes and that it is unethical to use technology to interfere in this way.
