Seventeen Competency Analysis

I can use the Seventeen competencies as an example and guide to go by to make sure that I am doing things that I am supposed to do to encourage the development and the learning of children. Teachers are the instructional part of the classroom and the program. We need to plan on what the children are learning, and make sure we are guiding them and teaching them in a way so that they can learn. We need to make sure that we are assessing the child on what they are learning and producing an environment to which the children are able to learn with. The early childhood education is changing almost every day. I would use it to see where my areas of improvement are needed and to work on to get the professional development in the area. I would also use it as a map to give me ideas on the understanding that I know in each area of concern that I see for me. I would also see where I need to have more professional growth and what area it is in. The three goals that are important for me to focus on is ongoing professional development, historical knowledge, technology. The way I am going to raise my knowledge is I need to stay on top of early childhood education because they are always and are rapidly changing. The history of early childhood education I know a Little about but I need to know more of the history of it. I need to research it and look at websites, and watch more videos on it. (Morrison, 2013). The way we can do this is by challenging old ways by using new ideas and having new methods. Technology is increasing role of how teachers teach, and what they are teaching, and how the children will learn. Investigate certain issues children and families have problems with such as watch the news, newspaper, and emails to keep updated on the community and the families in your area. The second one is observing, documenting, and the assessing of the young children (Morrison, 2013). This is a very important part of a childhood professional. This gives us information on the child development, learning, the child’s behavior and what they are achieving academically. It also shows what they child needs are if they need occupational therapy, or speech therapy and it shows if they are making progress in decision making. This will help me as teacher to know the outcomes and be able to plan and how to teach the child productively. It will give me something to share with that parent and family. The professional development will help integrate with methods on how to reach your professional goals. It can also help you to improve the way you do observations on a child.
