Today’s society has become consumed with achieving happiness. Establishing happiness differs among individuals, as well as between generations and cultures. We all can agree that happiness is not always easy to come by. Some people spend their entire life trying to become wealthy, achieve promotions, and seek meaningful relationships only to find that happiness has eluded them. In the article, “Seven Traits Only Happy People Have,” Jason DeMers points out that “happiness is about more than objective wealth or what you do in life-it’s about your perspective, and about how you react to things that happen around you.”

They strive to surround themselves with others who value humor. Whether it’s in your personal life or at your place of work, enthusiastic people can give you a positive outlook. Laughter can benefit both your emotional and physical health, as well as reduce your stress level. DeMers suggests, “If you want to be happier in your own life, start laughing and smiling whenever you can.” After all, laughter is the best medicine!
Along with the traits mentioned above, optimism can play a significant role in acquiring happiness. Life can throw us a curve ball every now and then, but happy people focus less on the obstacle and more on the best way around it. When you view things through a positive lens, the world is a much more favorable place to live in. Optimism can have an enormous impact on what you think, how you feel, and how you act. When you choose to look on the bright side, you are also choosing better health and greater happiness.
I chose this article because it was not only beneficial to me, but an interesting read as well. I’ve learned through this article that happiness is not about achieving a certain position, making a certain amount of money or obtaining a specific goal. It is about loving the journey that is called life. Being grateful for what you have, filling your life with laughter, and staying positive no matter what comes your way can open the door to the happiness that you
