There is always room for improvement. With that said, I feel it is equally important to continue my education. I plan on applying for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) by July and start the program in the fall semester. Obtaining a BSN degree will able to position me where I can grow more as a nurse. It can provide me with a more in-depth study of the physical and social sciences, evidence-based practice (EBP), as well as nursing leadership and management roles, all in which will expand my nursing …show more content…
Much of todays expected trends for nurses, is to have a BSN degree. Many hospitals are also currently requiring nurse to obtain their BSN in order to be considered for a position. Because BSN does focus on leadership, this degree will give me an opportunity for a management position if I chose this route.
My next long-term goal to is to take a Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) in 3 years. This program will help me to rapidly identify life-threatening injuries, provide comprehensive patient assessment, and enhance intervention for better patient outcomes. I believe, through this course, I can improve the care of all trauma patients. Through this course, I will be able to refine my skills and build a firm foundation in trauma nursing.
My overall career goals as a nurse is to be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). My plan is to be accepted into a CRNA program within 5 years. A CRNA has a high degree of autonomy and professional respect that carries a heavy load of responsibility. I feel it is amongst the most challenging nursing specialties. It is an important role to when delivering pain management to relieve suffering and discomfort due to surgery, trauma, childbirth, and illness while providing a safe and supportive care.
