Lunch privileges at Grace Christian offer little respect toward seniors and diminish their status. After five hours of rigorous schooling, they need an outlet to relax and replenish energy spent in the classroom. Numerous restaurant options surround the school, but favorite spots remain prohibited due to the lunch rule, “...seniors will be permitted to walk to one of four local restaurants for lunch, at which time they must sign out and back in”. In the past, if seniors completed their respective classes they were allowed to leave campus. Currently, seniors have no right to leave school early. This leaves students sitting in study hall or an elective which is often used for socializing and typically frays from the academic mindset. If seniors work hard to achieve their credit hours, they should be allowed to leave. However, for those who still have credit hours, they should not be permitted to leave campus early. If students bear no right to depart from school early, they should be allowed a “senior pass”. As long as they cause zero disruption, the students could show the pass to study hall or elective teachers so they could roam free. The seniors could utilize their time to grab a meal, talk with their favorite teacher, socialize with friends, or even play basketball in the cage. Seniors deserve respect and a sense of responsibility placed on their
