In our great nation of America, we have a bicameral legislature. These chambers of our legislature are unique, and constructed to be different from one another. The House of Representatives and the Senate are powerful in their own ways. When the Framers thought of how to create a legislature they included some differences. The House and Senate work together but are also diverse in terms of function, organization, and stature. The functions of both chambers are alike in some ways as well as different. For example, the primary duties of both houses are lawmaking, representing their constituents, and outlining the laws which our government runs on. Stature means, importance or reputation gained by ability or achievement. This can be applied to both chambers in terms of their success, or failure. The House of Representatives is more powerful because they deal directly with the nations economy through revenue bills. The House has the power of the purse! Well, most of the power over the purse. They also have the most members, which results in more opinions and choices available for the House to act upon. The terms and qualifications are different for each because of the people they represent. The House has shorter terms because of the ever-changing opinion of the people. It is the branch of government that is the most closely related to the people. The qualifications are also much easier to attain because, they want a broad spectrum of representatives to give a voice to the people.The qualifications for Senate are much more harder on purpose, because the Framers thought that if the senators were older they would be more wise, and make sensible decisions. The Senate has longer terms because, they are not affected by the people's opinion as much as the House. This is because Senate fights for the political ideas of the national government, not the people. It can be said the current public opinion of congress is disapproval from the the citizens. In a recent poll average of the nation people answered questions that deal with our government. On what people think of the Congressional Job, poll averages state that an only 14.8 approve of congress's work, and 76.2 disapprove. There is another subject that was polled, people were asked if they think the country is headed in the right direction. For people who think it is on the right track the number is 27.2. For people who think the country is headed in the wrong direction, the poll shows the number 76.2. The reason why public opinion is so low is due to citizen participation. There are many people
