Self Driving Disadvantages

There are many advantages to having self-driving cars. One of the biggest advantages is safety. The self-driving car can prevent accidents that are caused by human error. Most accidents are caused due to people not paying attention, falling asleep at the wheel, being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or not being able to react fast enough. Having a self-driving car would solve all of these problems as the car would be able to control the speed of the car, pay attention to traffic patterns, and react to any changes quicker than a human could. When self-driving cars are the norm, people who ride in those cars would be able to take advantage of that time to do work or online shop, potentially giving the software data about them. The hackers could then gain access to all of that information the same way they do online from the car. Another disadvantage is displacing the workers that are delivery or taxi drivers as with self-driving cars there will not be a need for them. The most interesting thing I discovered about self-driving cars was during our tour with Torc Robotics that the technology for self-driving cars is not just be tested for personal car use, but they have already been using it in the military. In the US Army, they have a self-driving CAT that helps to regrade roads in dangerous areas where they would not want to send people to do the job. In the US Marine Corps, they use a self-driving car to carry all of their equipment, literally taking the load off of their backs. The car has been trained to follow them wherever they walk. It was interesting to see how this technology is already changing the way we do certain tasks for the
