Art is a way people express how they feel about, what is going on in the world and how they show their emotion. Art can come in so many different type of ways. Seeing the Value in Art means so much more than looking at a painting or a sculpture. When a person looks at a painting they have to have an open mind and an open imagination. Having these things will get you to the purpose of what the artist is trying to say. Art is one power tool that everyone has, but we use are art in a different way to paint are moods. The way I see art is I look at it at all angles to see what the artist is trying to say. The first art I viewed in the book on page 42 was a gold plated shopping cart by Sylvie Fleury. Another piece that caught my eye was a X Portfolio by Robert Mapplethorpe. This painting was amazing because it tells a story about how this artist is feeling and what he might of went though. This painting speaks out to me because he is an African- American and in that time fame, blacks was treated with disrespect. I have a connection with this painting because I'm African-American. The Artist is feeling lonely and ashamed about something. It was very interesting to find out most artists make more money when they are deceased then when they are alive. This is very shocking because of their hard work is really being recognized when they are gone. Another famous pieces by Michelangelo his David piece. This sculpture is really famous around the world. I remember learning about this sculpture in history class. It has a lot of value in reputation in the art world. The art that I saw in the video about rape was very powerful and interesting. The way they use maps to see where the women have been rape at was very bold and Bravely of them.
