I have been part of The Seeing Eye puppy raising program for many years. An 8 week old puppy from The Seeing Eee breeding facility is placed in our home for 12-15 months. During this time the puppy is taught to be a “good citizen’ and learns several basic commands such as sit, stay, come, and lay down. Several times a month we take them to a 4-H club called Love on a Leash. There they get to meet with other Seeing Eye puppies in the area and practice their skills.Once they are at least a year old they return to The Seeing Eye for their advanced training to become a guide dog for the blind. Our family has raised three Seeing Eye puppies within the past 5 years and we are in the process of training our fourth. Our first puppy was a German Shepherd
