This book was published by Scholastics Inc. in 2012. This book is targeted for children between the ages of 3-7 and can be used in PreK, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. The Lexile level to this book is 250L. Which is targeted for 1st grade readers. This is a great short book children can read after a lesson on how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. As a teacher you can also incorporate a fiction book to go along with this book called “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. It’s really important that we also incorporate non fiction literature into our classrooms for reading.
In conclusion, it’s important that we look at Lexile levels when reading to children and having books they may read or look at in our classrooms. We don’t want books that are so high it will frustrate the child and we don't want books so low that they aren’t being challenged enough. Because these books can be used in several different grade levels and age groups it’s important we figure out where each child is at and give them books that will benefit them the

The book has a sequentially organized plot that provides a framework for children who are just developing their own organizational skills. The book walks the reader through a dog going outside to berry a bone and come back inside the house. The depth of detail is appropriate for the level of children it is simple pictures with lots of colors to catch the child’s attention. If the child is a pet owner, then they would have enough experiential background to understand and interpret the illustrations on their own.…

Two books that I will be recommending for her leisure time are: The Girl Who Could Not Dream by Sarah Beth Durst and Lost in Lexicon: An Adventure In Words And Numbers by Pendred Noyce and Joan Charles.…
