The book Uncle Tom’s Cabin was a book about the horrifying and harsh reality of slavery. It sold more 300,000 copies of the book in the North. The book caused a lot of controversy. Many people did not agree with it, they were the Southerners. Many Southerners protested and claimed that the book was dramatizing a lot and slavery is nothing compared to what the book states. Since Uncle Tom’s Cabin was showing all the reality of slavery, the South was afraid that Congress and Political Leaders would abolish slavery once and for all.
All of this was important, because it was a way to stop sectionalism differences. It temporarily fixed some of the issues, but some weren’t able to be saved. The sectionalism that was occurring between the North and the South was continuing separating them farther
apart, so it eventually led to the Civil War. This is how it worked, either the were loyal and with the South, or with the North. The North and the South were against each other, because of sectionalism. So at one point they were going to go to war because of the sectionalism. This made a many changes in American Society. It ended Slavery, because President Abraham Lincoln helped establish the 13th Amendment, which states that neither slavery nor involuntary servitude is allowed, except as punishment for a crime.
