Who would have thought that when James Madison in 1789 introduced to the U.S. Congress thirteen (13) amendments to the Constitution, that one of them – the Second Amendment would cause so much controversy? I am sure many of know what the Second Amendment is, but just in case you do not, it states:
“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."
What this means is “the right to bear arms”, simply our right to own and carry guns. This amendment added to the U.S. Constitution in 1791, along with nine others is known as the Bill of Rights, which established basic constitutional rights for the people of the United States. Others, those who believe in gun control feel that the Second Amendment does not give rights to the individual but to the states so that they have the right to operate militias. Additionally, they think that lenient gun laws make it easier for criminals to get a gun. However, we all know that if a criminal wants a gun they will find a way to get one, and all gun control does is limit the ability of law-abiding individuals to protect themselves and what is theirs. The most restrictive gun control laws occur at the state level and laws differ from state to state. In 2008, the Amendment went before the Supreme Court in the case "District of Columbia vs. Heller”. The Supreme Court agreed that the Second Amendment does protect the right of individuals to own firearms for lawful reasons, including self-defense and that local governments must not infringe upon this right. How many animals do you think would be running around the streets if we did not have guns to be able to hunt? Do you think this ecosystem could support all of the excessive animals and us? These are questions that should be asked when talking about gun control; it is not all about violence, it is also about keeping order in the world and maintaining population size. If the world has animals increasing in population every year by almost double if not more, think about the diseases they will start to carry, more than the human race can keep up and find cures for I can tell you that for sure! Hunting is the main reason we as humans have made it this far in life and will continue. If that right is taken away, I believe that we will start to die off and all of our food resources will go away as well. I do not mean hunting just deer, bear, and raccoons; I mean everything from whales, sharks, fish, and birds. Everything that we hunt, we will be able to find more information about the animal, not just for scientific purposes, but also for reasons we do not even understand yet. For example, sharkskin is so hard to penetrate that a normal gun cannot kill them, so I wonder why do sharks have that ability of their skin and could we use their skin for armor. You also have to
