There are articles in the Texas Constitution that are made simply to give us the right of Secession. Other governmental documents, such as the declaration of independence, also set aside certain rights that give states rights that they would have had before, mainly because of a dictator king in England. I would answer the second question by saying that we should. However, what the Texas government can do and what they will do, are two different matters. The question will we must be broken down into two parts. Should we? I believe that the ability for Texas to secede from the union is quickly going away, and so we should while we still have the chance. Will we? I cannot completely answer this question seeing how I do not have a brain scanner attached to Greg Abbott, or Texas citizens, but I can make and educated guess. I think the Texas government will decide to secede and will accomplish the act within the next sixty years. To better answer these question I would look into the issue of states’ rights even more. I would want to understand how other states might react to a Texas secession, and how the federal government would react. The possibility of a peaceful secession drastically alters my perspective on the issue. I would also like to know more about the Texas governmental system. Could it function on its own, how much money do we get from the federal government etc. It is also important to know the strength and size of our military and the percentage chance that the Texas-less United States would provide
