It was warm for February, and that meant that the Presidents weekend would be even better. I was leaving school with Drew, Adam, and Señor when the sky started to darken. The winds started to pick up, but the other students didn’t seem to notice and kept chugging along. “It’s a Sharknado!” wailed Drew.
“Impossible, tis’ an atmospheric phenomenon.” aforementioned Adam. Señor had a worried look on his face. By now all the students had left the school yard.

“Get in, all of you.” We all got into the brown Ford Explorer and Señor floored it. Señor explained what was going on. A sand storm was forming. He had experiences with this living back in Chile, and remembered the dust storms, which could reach up to 7,000 feet high, vividly. On the south there was blue sky, golden sunlight and tranquility; on the north, there was a menacing curtain of boiling black dust that appeared to reach a thousand or more feet into the air. It had the appearance of a mammoth waterfall in reverse – color as well as form. Even the birds were helpless in the turbulent onslaught and dipped and dived without benefit of wings as the wind propelled them. As the wall of dust and sand struck our house the sun was instantly blotted out completely.…
