In this essay we will be discussing the video on Sculpting the Art Critic by Philippe Faraut made in 2009. Phillippe sculpted many clay subjects and each are slightly different, but each came about through the same constructive process.
Phillipe sculpted his model of the critic using the method of additive process, which means he built upon layer by layer to achieve his wanted subject. He used a wooden stand to start building upon with materials such as newspaper, tape and of course the pliable material called clay. As he built upon the stand and started to achieve his wanted model, he then began to mold the figure with his hands. Philippe Faraut used his hands to start an outline so to speech of where he wanted certain features to be defined.
