The story, A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens explains about the emphasis of Christmas and being a loving and caring person. Dickens describes the scene of how everyone in the city is getting ready for Christmas except for one man, Scrooge. Scrooge is a cold hearted and a selfish man and is always worrying about his job and making money rather than seeing the importance of having family around you and having a good time and making memories with them. Scrooge is startled when three spirits; Spirit of Christmas Past, Spirit of Christmas Present, and Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come, came and tried to make him a better person. I think some people might have chosen the first spirit, Spirit of Christmas Past, because it started him of by helping him understand why he needed the help and needed his mistakes fixed, “ Scrooge : Why are you here? First Spirit : Your welfare. Rise. Walk with me.” ( p. 14 ). But, they also might have picked the second spirit, Spirit of Christmas Present, because it had shown them how Scrooge might have changed more by looking at his present actions and how starting that instant could have changed his future, “ Bob Cratchit : ( raising his glass ) My dear, to Scrooge. I give you Mr. Scrooge, the founder of the feats. Mrs. Cratchit : The founder of the feast indeed ! I wish I had him here ! I’d give him a piece of my mind to feast upon, and hope he’d have a good appetite for it. ” ( p. 24 ). But, the third spirit is the right one and helped him changed the most because it showed him how his family and friends depended on his actions and decisions he made to change.
