Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a serious bone disorder in the spine. It is an abnormal curvature of the spine that can present as a “C” shape or an “S” shape. There is no known cause of scoliosis unless it was diagnosed as a secondary complication to an already ongoing issue with something else. It is very rare that the patient will suffer from any pain resulting from the scoliosis. But, early-onset scoliosis can become fatal if it is left untreated.

What describes the direction of the scoliosis would be dextroscoliosis is a spinal curve to the right, and it occurs in the thoracic portion of the spine. Levoscoliosis is a spinal curve to the left in the lumbar region of the spine, and if this appears higher in the spine, it could be an indication of secondary scoliosis to a spinal cord …show more content…
Congenital scoliosis is presented in infancy or utero, and it is very rare, and affects only one out of every ten thousand infants. Neuromuscular scoliosis happens in individuals that suffer from an ongoing neuromuscular condition causing the patient to not be able to walk, such as cerebral palsy, so it is a secondary condition in this case. Degenerative scoliosis is caused by a gradual deterioration of joints in the spine. In degenerative scoliosis the pain starts to appear very gradually, and the pain is always the worst in the morning when you just wake up and later in the day. Patients who suffer from this also get pains in one or both of the legs while
