Scoliosis Informative Speech

Before I start my speech I would like to show one x-ray picture. This is my current spine and we can see it is actually a C curve and it is known as scoliosis. The first thing we should know is that scoliosis is not a disease. It is a term used in the medical field to describe any abnormal, sideways curve that occurs in the spine whether to left or right and whether in C or S curve. Shaped like letter C where there is a single curve to the left is called Levoscoliosis and toward right side is called Dextroscoliosis. Here there is an example of S-curve spine where the spine actually has 2 curves. About 4% of the population aged 10-14 years old is undergoing scoliosis and 40-60% of them were found in the female source from American Association of Neurological Surgeons. About 80-85% of scoliosis cases are diagnosed as idiopathic, meaning there is no underlying condition or cause for the spine deformity sources from National Institute of Health. Honestly, I’m one of the idiopathic condition because I knew the news when I have my body checkup at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. These can cause the child may not able to walk to stay upright, further preventing the spine from growing properly. Next, functional means the spine is normal but an abnormal curve develops because of a problem somewhere else in the body.
