Some might read the CNN article “Are music and happiness linked” and think that going to concerts regularly makes you a happier person, but it would be wrong to assume that without further scientific evidence. Instead of causation (one causing the other) it could be just a correlation (just happens to go together). Just as Dr. Weinberg mentioned in the article, maybe people that are happier tends to express their emotion through music and dancing.
To find out if going to concerts regularly can really make you happier I would conduct an experiment, where I would monitor the happiness level of about three hundred people for over six weeks. I will ask participants to rate their overall happiness level two days before …show more content…
I would also ask the participants to rate their happiness level two days before and after each concert. At the end of the experiment I would average out the happiness level of all groups. There will be about five concerts over the six weeks’ period. The null hypothesis is that going to concert does not make people happier. The independent variable will be attending concerts and the dependent variable will be the happiness level. Before starting the experiment, I would randomly divide the participants into three equal groups. For group one, I would ask their favorite music genre and have them attend concerts accordingly. For group two, I would have them attend random concerts. The last group will be the control group; therefore, they do not get to attend any concerts. Having these three groups play a crucial role in this experiment. At the end of the experiment, if both group one and group two have higher happiness level than group three (control group), then
