A. Community-The community is in an urban environment. The population within the community is approximately 150,000 people and continues to grow. The city itself is approximately 185 square miles. The principal type generated income and main employment for the city is the insurance and healthcare industries. The racial makeup of the city is approximately 89% White, 3% African American, 1% Native American, 3% Asian, and 4% Hispanic or Latino. B. School-Saguaro High School is an A+, Blue Ribbon Schools Program, and is a certified high school. There is currently a little over 1,400 students enrolled. School programs include autistic behavior and communication program, E learning center (online based classrooms), dual enrollment with EVIT (East Valley Institute of Technology) and a 504 program which assures that students with disabilities have educational opportunities and benefits equal to those provided to non-disabled students. The school roughly has 80% of its students come from higher socio-economic backgrounds. Leaving roughly 20% of students that are economically underprivileged. Classroom Setting-The class as a whole has roughly 150 students spread out through 5 periods.The classroom however has 38 desks that are paired in four rows all facing the front of the classroom. In the back of the room to the right is the teachers desk with his computer, bookcases, and file cabinets. Dry erase white boards occupy much of the wall space throughout the room. The whole right side of the wall is a dry erase board that is used as a daily calendar as well as a listing of the weeks worth of work that is to be turned in on Monday. The front left of the room has a poster with the schools acronym CATS (capable, appropriate, trustworthy, and supportive) it is called CATS because the school mascot is a saber
