The School Resource Officer
The purpose of this paper is to present the roles that School Resource Officers preform within society. The topics discussed in this paper will include School Resource Officer’s Guiding Ethical Principles and responsibilities. These core values and responsibilities are the guiding principles when School Resource Officers are conducting criminal investigations.
The School Resource Officer is a strange creature. The majority of School Resource Officers are the most flexible officer of all law enforcement officers. They possess the greatest range of personalities and capabilities. School Resource Officers are best described as warriors. They are ones who can hold the mightiest sword one hand and the most fragile child’s hand in the other. But not everyone can be a School Resource Officer. The Majority of School Resource Officers that I am familiar with utilizes the role as a leader and as a follower when needed.

(Snyder) Integrity is honesty and the adherence to values and principles despite the costs and consequences. Integrity also demands forthrightness and candor, which must not be subordinated to personal gains and advantages. Integrity cannot co-exist with deceit or subordination of principles. (Snyder) Therefore, an officer reputation within the community often determines the level of cooperation from the community in whole.
