Scelestus City: A Short Story

“You do realize I’m dropping you off, once I’m out of this damn cave?” I state, still not wanting him to accompany me to Scelestus City. He’ll just causes problems and besides he’s place is here and with me gone, his family might stop hating him.
“Yeah, I don’t think so,” he argues, as he continues to fly the carrier perfectly, right in the direction I know is the way out. The cave grows bigger and bigger as we come to the entrance. Carriers pass up by, going to slow and trying to find a safe place to land.

“Well, at least you have family. Remember that,” I whisper, crossing my arms and ending the conversation. I turn my attention to my leg, blocking out anything else he has to say. I don’t want to hear it. My parents have been dead for years now and the only person I ever found joy in was Kallau and she’s dead too, because of me. She would still be alive if I hadn’t been stupid that night and just remained asleep.

This drastic change in character can clearly be seen in Elie Wiesel's novel “Night,” in which we see events from the Holocaust unfold from the eyes of younger Jewish Elie Wiesel. “Night” is set during the nineteen-forties when the Nazi party still ruled Germany. Twelve-year-old Elie Wiesel and the rest of his family are sent to the concentration camps after their own town is taken control of by the Nazis, sadly Elie's mother and sister are killed off early on when they reach Birkenau.…
