“If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.” (Katherine Hepburn) Lord Of The Flies is a novel written by Nobel Prize-winning English author William Golding in 1954. In Lord Of The Flies a plane full of young british boys crashes on an island that is uninhabited and join together forming a government that ends with horrific results. As depicted in William Golding’s The Lord Of The Flies, the initial reason for mankind's descent into savagery is the loss of civilization resulting in rules being broken.
War paint is essential in all savage hunter gatherers. It is no surprise when Jack comes back with his hunters all dressed up wearing weird clothes and face paint. He later goes on to explain the face paint by saying "For hunting. Like in the war. You know-- dazzle paint. Like things trying to look like something else" (Golding 65). This quote shows that war paint is used to hide their faces so that they are comfortable with killing and the first sign that savagery is going to take over. Although this all seems harmless this stages the first sequence of civilization falling and savagery rising.
As much as Jack is a leader he also shows to be somewhat of a conformist under pressure. The group of boys especially Roger begin chanting something very disturbing as Jack held Robert by his hair and began waving his knife near Roberts …show more content…
The pig's head is telling Simon why there is no hope and how he cannot possibly have any hope. “There isn’t anyone to help you. Only me. And I’m the Beast… Fancy thinking the Beast was something you could hunt and kill!... You knew, didn’t you? I’m part of you? Close, close, close! I’m the reason why it’s no go?
