Sarah Forestell sat in a student’s desk in her classroom after school joking with the soccer players that she coaches as if they were old friends. It’s her outgoing personality and her love for kids that help her to form such close bonds with her students. However, it’s her love for Spanish that has put her in the position she’s in today. “I always knew I was interested in Spanish, but I didn’t know I wanted to be a teacher,” she said, going on to explain that it wasn’t until after she had a summer job working with kids that she decided she wanted to be a teacher. She has been able to combine her passions for spanish and working with kids to travel the world, share her love of spanish, and connect with high school students on a deep level. …show more content…
It has taken her to different countries around the world including Argentina, Guatemala, and Spain, where she studied abroad and completed her master’s degree. She is excited to travel to Mexico over Christmas break, and she hopes to one day travel to Puerto Rico. But of all the places she’s traveled, Spain is her favorite. She’s had the opportunity to travel there many times, and has seen many different parts of the country. She discussed the massive cultural diversity throughout Spain, which she experienced when she completed the “camino de santiago,” a 500 mile, 33 day walk across northern Spain. “Every day was very similar, because we were walking.
