By Danielle Ambalong (Block 6) Sand samples have been collected from Galveston Beach, TX; Clearwater Beach, FL’ and Key West, FL. Each sample has been sieved and analyzed. Because of the different locations of the sands, the composition is diverse, ranging from quartz to hornblende. This feature is determined by the parent rock, which is the source rock that has been eroded and deposited into the same area. This is usually where the sand originates.
Galveston beach is known as a barrier island. Galveston Island is located south of Houston, about 50 miles. Galveston Island split up west Galveston bay and the eastern Gulf of Mexico. The natural formation of the island started 5,300 years ago. Located
