In order to combat obesity, families will learn how to decrease consumption of processed food, while increasing their physical activity in a local community. I will teach participants to create a healthy meal plan, which consists of fruits, vegetables, grains, and lean meats. Participants will be polled to find out what their favorite fruits and vegetables and restrictions if any on food item. The SNAP program is sponsored project for addressing food insecurity and hunger for families to purchase fresh and high-quality foods at a reasonable price. Parents and children are eligible for “food stamps” to purchase fruits, vegetables, grains, and lean meats at a grocery store or farmers market (SNAP, n.d). Also, the SNAP program will educate families to select and make healthy meals that are satisfying at home. The behavioral objective is to develop a nutrition lesson plan for families to prepare meals that are affordable in the local community. The program would recommend families to consume increased serving of fruits and vegetables to meet the dietary guidelines (Hinders, 2015). It is important to monitor how much nutrients are consumed in daily meal by the families. The program encourages families to try, and taste seasonal fruits and vegetables that are appealing to them.
