Salt Water Experiment

The best way to determine which concentration of salt water is ideal for hatching brine shrimp is to create a controlled experiment. This experiment would utilize four containers of water including; a 2% salt water concentration, a 4% salt water concentration, a 6% salt water concentration, and a container of fresh water, to set a base number of brine shrimp hatchlings for the experiment. Besides containing the salt water concentration, and the brine shrimp eggs, each container should receive some light exposure, and plants or other natural environmental objects, that the shrimp would find in the wild. To get the most reliable results from the experiment, there are factors that must be kept constant in all containers. Each container should …show more content…
The right column of the data table should represent the dependent variable (Total number of shrimp hatched in each saltwater concentration.) When putting down the right-hand column data into the table, it is important to make sure that the data correlates to its given concentration value. After creating a data table to make the data easy to analyze, a bar graph should also be created, to further organize the data. On the X-Axis of the bar graph, there should be a label, as well as the salt water concentration. On the Y-Axis of the bar graph, there should be a label as well as a set of values written that work well with the data collected. It is important to remember to title the graph. After conducting the experiment and organizing the data collected, the answer to the question, which salt water concentration is most appropriate for hatching brine shrimp eggs, can be inferred/indicated by looking at the data points, and seeing which concentration of salt water produced the greatest number of hatchlings.
