That Saint that I chose to be my model throughout confirmation and to base my Saint report on is Saint Michael the Archangel. The reason why I chose Saint Michael the Archangel is because he is the patron of grocers, soldiers, mariners, paratroopers, police and sickness. What caught my attention about Saint Michael the Archangel is that he is a patron of police and soldiers. Ever since I was little, I would always watch movies and TV shows involving police and soldiers because I admired them so much. I was inspired by their strength and bravery; fighting off bad people in the world who are harming others/causing trouble and risking their lives just to save others.…

Brandt Homework 5 1) There are many ways that St. Alexis and St. Severinus are similar, but the most obvious one is that they both were recognized by the leaders of the time. On page 7 of the handout on Severinus, one can read how the King of the Rugii asked for advice on his reign. Similarly, on pg. 9 of the handout on St. Alexis one reads how the Pope and the emperor asked him for counsel as well. Another thing they have on common is that they both have miracles that are attributed to them after their death.…

The saint whose name I have chosen for my conformation name is that of Saint Genesius of Rome. Saint Genesius was an actor in a traveling troupe that went around Rome. It was in these plays that he and his fellow actors would mock the Christian faith. Emperor Diocletain of Rome was in attendence one night, when Saint Genesius was performing a skit that made fun of baptism. Saint Genesius played the character being baptized, and at the moment his character was baptized, Saint Genesius saw a vision of angels coming down upon him with a large book filled with all of his sins.…

It is interesting to note that, included in the set of Suffrages as the very first prayer is an illustration devoted to St. Anne in St. Anne Instructing the Virgin (Fol. 13). It is no accident that the first suffrage in this prayer book is dedicated to the saint with the same name as the patron; certainly, this primary position was deliberately chosen, indicating the particular devotion to this saint that Anne de Bretagne had. The inclusion of St. Anne is not only significant because of the name. As the mother of the Virgin, she is significant, as well, and she, along with the Virgin herself, serves as a model of ideal motherhood towards which Anne de Bretagne could aspire. Thus, this illustration is one of the examples of personalisation,…

The stories of Jesus are represented through the four New Testament Gospels: Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. Each Gospel emphasizes on particular principles that represent Jesus differently. Jesus is seen as the suffering Messiah in all four Gospels, but each Evangelist puts in his own intake, hence expanding on the original Markan portrait of Jesus. The writers of the Gospels give their own theological assertions, and understandings, which in effect creates a new portrait of Jesus for each Gospel. The Gospel portraits vary and represent a different and evolving view of Jesus’, stories, and traditions over time.…

"He slept face down on the newspapers with his arms out straight and the palms of his hands up" Santiago lay there restless, in exactly the same position that Christ hung on the cross. This passage from The Old Man and the Sea has been analyzed by multiple critics and they are certain that this is not a coincidence. Throughout the novel, we encounter enough evidence to confirm that Ernest Hemingway intended to portray Santiago as a reincarnation of Jesus Christ. The Old Man and the Sea resembles Christ's journey to Calvary through the actions of Santiago, the protagonist. To begin with, Santiago's resistance to defeat symbolizes the first Station of the Cross.…
