Reflection On Safe And Effective Nursing Practice

The program outcome of use emerging patient care technologies and information systems to support safe and effective nursing practice, I have accomplished all these goals. I have operated, used, and assessed common hemodynamic monitoring used in the ED. I have also been charting all the patient assessments through the electronic data monitoring system, but I still need to ask my preceptor questions every once in a while how to chart certain information. I have also been reading orders that were put in for patients and have put in verbal orders from the physician. The program outcome of integrate leadership concepts, skills and decision making in the provision of high quality nursing care delivery in a variety of settings, I have accomplished many of my goals. I have been assessing almost every patient that has been assigned to my preceptor and me and been anticipating diagnostic studies they may need. I have been conducting focused patient assessments depending on their chief complaint. For example, the patient complains of chest pain I have been asking OLD CART, obtaining vitals, EKG, auscultating heart and lung sounds. I have also responded appropriately to worsening patient conditions such as raising the head of the bed when they are having trouble breathing and applying oxygen when their O2 sats start lowering. I have been conducting patient teaching for discharge on every patient, I have been teaching about their diagnosis, medications, and how to prevent reoccurrence. I have also been asking the patient and family member’s if they have any questions about the disease or any other education they may need before they are discharged.
