“There is no I in team!” Holding a relationship with a team can be a very good experience and an unforgettable life event, but at the same time that relationship can hold many bad memories and life-learning lessons. Teams are meant to work together and support each other, but that wasn’t my case. Knapp’s stage of Relational development shows the stages of a relationship when it comes together and when it falls apart. There are 10 different stages in the Knapp’s Stages of Relational Development, in which all of the stages apply to my relationship with my teammates from my hometown girls’ soccer team.…
When considered within the context of the weak Articles of Confederation, the political divide between those who wanted a strong central government and those who wanted a weak central government played a key role in the 1780s in the United States. However, this disunity was not a crisis, but a catalyst for a debate and conversation that would center around the political ethos of the country. Many philosophies came out of this new conversation, with the most polarizing one being Federalism. Many of these new ideas would take center stage in Philadelphia at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, which was necessitated by this ideological split. Compromise between both sides of the debate allowed the Constitution to be completed and later ratified by all of the states in 1789, as there were aspects of the new American government that satisfied both the framers and the states.…
DBQ The Progressive Era, 1900-1920, can be defined as a reform movement aimed toward urban and social change through improvements in the nation. This era stemmed from American industrialization and a population growth. Also, the Progressive Era emerged from past movements such as abolitionism, women’ rights, temperance, and the regulation of big businesses. Some of the main goals of the progressives included breaking trusts, ending political reform, bettering living conditions, and establishing voting reforms as well as banking reforms.…
Thomas Paine, an advocate for colonial independence during the 1700’s, wrote, in his famous document Common Sense, “I have never met anyone, either in England or America, who has not felt that a separation between the countries would take place sooner or later.” It is no coincidence that the separation that he speaks of began when the British government started implementing unfair taxes on the American colonists, without their consent, and with no intention to compromise. Certainly, the British government is at fault for the American Revolution, due to the fact that they caused the colonists to feel that there was no longer just the need for equality but for complete independence from their mother country. Likewise, although the Americans were…
Road to Revolution The American Colonies were justified in waging war and breaking away from Britain because of the unconstitutional laws placed on them by the British Parliament; as well as the tyrannical rule the Britain enforced over them. The American colonialists had every right to rebel against Britain because of the unconstitutional laws being enforced over them by said Parliament. The Stamp Act was a law passed by the British Parliament on the Colonies in 1765 which required a tax to be paid for the approval of any printed and sold document; such as: newspapers, playing cards, legal documents, posters, etc.…
Emerging from the ashes of The War of Austrian Succession and the Seven Years War, the people of Europe wanted more from life then they possessed. They wanted the rights, liberties, and freedoms that the absolute monarchs of their states held captive. Looking at Great Britain as a model for a successful government without an absolute monarch, peasants, serfs, and the bourgeoisie wanted power to be in their own hands. The growing sentiment was proclaimed by philosophes such as John Locke, Baron de Montesquieu, Voltaire, and Jean Jacques Rosseau. The monarchs listened, hearing the cries of their people.…

Advancement in a society is paramount to the progression of mankind. During the Age of Enlightenment, a group of brilliant scholars known as philosophes came together to discover the laws of nature. They sought to improve societal living. The Age of Enlightenment, also known as the Age of Reason, ranging from the 17th to 18th century, was a period of high intellect and new ideas. While each philosophe expressed a different area of concern in relation to the society, they all expressed a central theme of freedom and equality that will improve the government, ensure harmony, religious wise, and allow for the blossom of the economy and equality between both sexes.…
Writing is a big part of history that emphasizes analyzing facts, organizing one’s thoughts into a simple essay, and allowing readers to realize the writers’ perspective and compare their ideas. A DBQ is a document based questioned essay. This means that the students receive numerous documents related to the topic of the essay that they are required to read in order to completely answer the essay prompt and argue their point of their thesis. The documents can be quotes, speeches, graphs and charts, news articles, and even political cartoons and images.…
After moving to a small, rural community in Pennsylvania from Philadelphia, I was shocked to see the limited amount of 12 step recovery meetings in this area. Since moving here, I have already run into several of my drug and alcohol clients at AA meetings, and the ethical issue of boundaries has needed to be dealt with. Scott (2000) stated, “many addictions counselors are also in recovery and attend 12-step programs in the community. Thus, they often find themselves in a dual role with clients, acting as a therapist in treatment and a peer in groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous,” (p. 213). Due to the fact that I am recovering myself, and need these meetings to maintain my own sobriety, being knowledgeable about the ethical guidelines regarding dual…
The Pursuit of Perfection dealt with religious and moral reform movements in the 19th century in America. One response of the massive changes brought about by the ships was to industrialize market economy to create utopian communities. This was made for people so they could separate there selfs from the worst aspects of the bold new world. During the Antebellum Revival & Reform the Americans intellectuals, artist, writers, and reformers created a national culture committed to the liberation of human spirit during the first half of the 19th century through movements and nature and the role that the Second Great Awakening and Transcendentalism played this into effect was with religion and individualism.…
Reform movements in the U.S. sought to expand democratic ideals through the facilitation of ideas like abolitionism, women's rights, equal treatment, temperance, universal suffrage, and the overall more accepting nature of religion following the Second Great Awakening. The reform crusades created a greater awareness of the rights of others and created a substantially more accepting environment in the United States. The women's rights movement sought to expand democratic ideals by extending the right to vote to others besides white men to allow their voices to be heard and to allow women the same inalienable rights as men. The temperance movement was similar in nature because it sought to improve the social conditions both inside and outside…
