Then I request that they retake the entire test after reviewing my notes and worked-out solutions. After doing this repeatedly, their ability to get through the problems successfully increases dramatically. Bear in mind that while I show them the step-by-step solutions, I also fill in their weak spots by re-teaching them material they need to know. By providing this type of tutoring, the students test scores invariably go up; and both they and their parents are always pleased with this

Although the new SAT and ACT are both very similar in terms of material and neither is preferred over the other, the SAT is a more appropriate for me as it is a better alternative to my test taking skills and more relevant to my career choice. According to the article, “Which One Should You Take?,” the ACT has a science section of the test while the New SAT doesn’t include “a science section. The “science” section of the ACT is easy to master, and has nothing to do with science. But if you hate it, then the New SAT is your savior” (Doc 1).…

However, the SAT has proved to be in an inadequate measure of a student’s success in future academic endeavors and colleges are beginning to make submitting scores optional. The SAT needs to be abolished as a requirement for college admission because it is a misleading measure of intelligence. “Testing of students in the United States is now [approximately] 150 years old” (Alcocer, Paulina. " History of Standardized Testing in the United States."). Rigorous testing has become engrained into the American educational system. I disagree with the countless challenging tests subjected upon the modern student because exams such as the SAT, ACT, Iowa Basics, PSAT/NMSQT are weighted too heavily, are not accurate or full representations of a student, and correlative studies have displayed that families with lower income yield children with lower test scores creating an uneven testing terrain in the United States. Standardized tests have become not only greater influences on a child’s future but also more common in a student’s life.…
