S. E. Hinton's Novels Affected My Life

Throughout my life I have read a vast amount of literature. However, only three novels have really impacted me. These books were: The Cat in the Hat, The Outsiders, and last but not least Go Ask Alice. All of these stories have taught me valuable life lessons. These lessons are those that have stuck with me and still apply in my daily life when they are needed depending on the situation or scenario. Dr. Seuss is one of the most beloved children’s authors of all time. His books provide a fun interactive way for kids to start reading. The tale he wrote known as The Cat in the Hat profoundly affected me while growing up. This story changed my life because it allowed me to expand and develop my vocabulary at an early age. Also, this helped me because it got me desiring to read more of his work, fables which taught me moral lessons as well as being fun to read. …show more content…
Hinton not only showed me how important family is, but also how different society class’ conflict with one another. This is evident when one of the main characters named Pony boy Curtis and his gang called The Greasers end up fighting their rival gang called the Socials. During this fight, Pony boy was getting beat up and his fellow gang members come to his aid. These two gangs in my opinion represent the battle between the lower class and upper class, which are more privileged than them. In addition, this narrative educated me on the fact that sometimes the appearance of something or someone is not what it seems to be. I was informed of that due to the fact that throughout the storyline Pony boy is personally trying to avoid fighting because it doesn’t make the situation any
