S. A. Bodeen is an American children’s and young adult book author. Stephanie was born and raised on a dairy farm in Wisconsin, where she milked cows and learned how to drive stick at the young age of eight. Though after college she joined the peace corps with her husband and moved to Tanzania in East Africa, where she lived in a mud hut. Many of her children’s books, such as Elizabeti’s Doll, a series of picture books were inspired by the time she spent there. Elizabeti’s Doll also won the 1999 Ezra Jack Poot Keats New Writer Award. The author has lived in a total of eight states and two african countries.
S. A. Bodeen graduated from UW-River Falls with a degree in Secondary Education, and with it she has taught fiction workshops for adult
