The Orthodox Church has well over 1k years of power and strong political history along with spiritual influences over Russians. Their beliefs are based on the bible traditions that are clearly defined by seven ecumenical councils between A.D 325-787. The highest official of the church is the patriarch. The patriarch is basically the pope of the Orthodox faith. Matters relating to the religion are taken up with the Ecumenical council and the patriarch. Russia’s new openness to its society attracted many different religious activists around the world. In Russia you can find Swiss Protestants, Roman Catholic missionaries, German Lutherans, many catholic orders, Catholics, Christians, the unification church and the church of scientology.
