There are eight key characteristics of events. Describe each one illustrating how it might relate to the Royal de Luxe street Festival. 1. Event time and duration
• The event time and duration is simply to do with the timing of the event
• When does it start?
• When does it end?
• Is it scheduled times or an all day event?
• Does the event start at 5 and then there is another showing of it at 7 how many start times is there.
In relation to the Royal de Luxe street festival the event begins on the 4th of September and ends on the 6th of September, from my reading of the document it does not say whether it has a scheduled time but my guessing is that it is an all day event as getting a giant figure such as a 37ft grandmother through …show more content…
a) The main risks associated with an event such as the Royal de Luxe Street festival are Human risks such as protecting children and vulnerable people risks, accessibility to the attendees should someone become ill or unwell in anyway also substance abuse could be an issue at an event like this.
Biological risks are another risk which i believe could be associated with this event chemicals in face paints could react with someone’s skin and cause a reaction care needs to be on hand should this happen
Crowd control for this event i believe would be the biggest risk associated with this event as over 200000 people attended the event over the 3 days this means there will be lots of people in the crowds which could lead to crushing and injury’s or in extreme cases death and nobody should go to an event with their children and never come home. Also as the exhibit in this case is quite tall there would need to be adequate space left if it were to fall.
Traffic risks this event would be relatively big as Each individual day of the three days required a different route and logistically the event was very demanding requiring forklifts, cranes, vans, single and double decker buses, trucks, scooters, cars, barges and boats to enable the giants to move through the route this means that people if not kept away from the motorcade of cars could be seriously …show more content…
a) If I were managing such an event steps i would take to reduce the risk would be firstly to identify the risks, assess the risks the likely hood of them happening and the impact they would have on the event. Finally manage the risks there are four ways to manage a risk
• Terminate: Eradicate the risk sometimes the risk is the event itself and that cannot be taken away the 37ft statue is a big risk if it fell it could crush a lot of people but at the end of the day it’s the attraction so that cannot be taken away.
• Treat: Contain the
• Transfer: Get a 3rd party company to deal with the risk for you so for example getting a security company in to deal with the crowd control for the event.
• Tolerate: Deal with the risk it may not be possible to do anything to prevent the risk without ruining the event e.g. reducing the traffic needed to bring the 37ft grandmother through the
