Rowayton Elementary School: Case Study

Isaac is a 10-year-old fourth grade student at Rowayton Elementary School in Norwalk, Connecticut. He is a year older than his peers because he was retained in Kindergarten due to lack of sufficient progress in both reading and math. While in first through second grades he struggled with reading skills, but was always able to meet benchmark goals throughout the school year. In third grade, Isaac could not meet benchmark goals consistently and he was entered into the SRBI process. He has since been receiving intervention primarily in reading and writing on a daily basis. On the third grade end of the year Dibels reading fluency test, Isaac was only reading 72 words per minute, when the goal for the end of the year in third grade is 100
