Against the understanding of a fixed nature of human beings, the argument of a relatively malleable nature of man has been brought up by other philosophers as well as historians and scholars from other related fields of study (McClelland, 47). Recent centuries have seen even increased arguments against fixed human nature with modernists such as Rousseau and Thomas Hobbes among others. In the context of a normal society, being human means being able to be normal and uphold the characteristics that are portrayed by other people in the society (Rauch, 69). However, there is a neutral definition of being human that tends to apply to all human beings regardless of their society like being intelligent, compassionate, caring.
