• DO limit the number of sexual partners you have, and try to find partners who also limit their partners. Having fewer partners reduces your risk.
• DO talk with your partner about his or her sexual history, including testing for STIs.
• DON’T engage in social behaviors such as drinking excessively or using recreational drugs that can impair your judgment and lead to unprotected sex.
• DON’T engage in sexual practices such as rough sexual intercourse or anal sex that can lead to tears in the skin. Tears or breaks increase your risk for STIs.
• DO talk with our Round Rock obgyns about preventing STIs with certain vaccinations. Women age 26 and under benefit from the HPV vaccine against the human papilloma virus. Women should also talk with our physicians about the hepatitis B vaccine.
