Rosary beads also serve as a form of comfort when undergoing hardship (The Rosary foundation, 2016). Two different types of ritual in religion are private devotion and public worship. Private devotion is a personal worship to God which occurs solely between the person in prayer and God privately without being surrounded by other worshippers (Religiouslyincorrect Org, 2009). Public worship however is the opposite as it involves a group of people joining together to worship God together (Religiouslyincorrect Org, 2009). By using this five stage structure we are able to clearly see the different parts of private rite of devotion. The entry to the ritual is when the crucifix is held and the Sign of the Cross is performed as this is how many Catholic prayer times are initiated (Theholyrosary, 2016). This is then followed by the preparation which is the Apostles Creed, Our Father, three Hail Mary’s and a Glory Be prayer. These lead to the climax where the little medal piece with the image of Mary is held and the Hail Holy Queen is said. The climax is continued as this part of the ritual can be considered more to be meditation as Our Father is said and the Hail Mary is chanted several times (Catfish, 2014). This is followed by the Glory Be prayer, then the Fatima prayer (Theholyrosary, 2016). Before the return stage the second respective mystery is announced and a meditation aid is done followed by another Our Father. Another ten Hail Marys are chanted followed by one Glory be and the Fatima prayer called a decade as before, this is all repeated to increase the meditation (Catholicity, 2016). The celebration stage of the ritual is when all of the mysteries have been announced and the fifth and Final decade is prayed.
