If in America we were to designate a “National Living Treasure,” Ron Clark would fit the description. Ron has a unique style of teaching not only students, but teachers as well. His inspiration to inspire children to learn is phenomenal. “Ron Clark was born on January 1, 1972. He graduated from East Carolina University in 1994,” (Famous Birthdays). He graduated through the North Carolina Teaching Fellows program. He is currently a teacher in Atlanta, Georgia. “After I graduated college, I traveled to London where I worked at a restaurant as a dancing and singing waiter,” (Winfrey). Ron traveled to other countries as well. “I later came home to accept a job in Belhaven, North Carolina. My mom told me a teacher in her area had passed away and asked me if I would be willing to finish out the school year. I wasn’t interested, but I figured I would just …show more content…
On June 25, 2007, the Ron Clark Academy was established in Atlanta, Georgia. “From February to March of 2007, two hundred students were interviewed to determine our first class of students,” (The Ron Clark Academy). They also received hundreds of employee applications. “On March 17, 2007, the inaugural class of sixty students was announced. Thirty-two sixth grade students and twenty-eight fifth grade students with varying strengths and challenges were selected,” (The Ron Clark Academy). The Ron Clark Academy currently has one-hundred thirteen students, from grades fifth-eighth. There are twenty-two staff members. Many of the students live within a ten-mile radius of the Academy. The Academy’s normal school day is from 7:55AM-4:00PM, with after school programs from 4:00PM-5:45PM. Their after school programs consists of tutoring, spoken word, Africa dance, acting, tennis, soccer, financial literacy, and more. The Academy has a basketball team, a cheerleading squad, a dance team, a Georgia aquarium research group, and many other different
