Consider the balcony scene and interpret Shakespeare's purpose on the reader understanding what people do when they are in love and why do they believe the world is going against them. Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene Two is an excerpt from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The balcony scene depicts Juliet venting her thoughts, while Romeo actively listens to her, which then follows a conversation between them. By considering Shakespeare's balcony scene, the reader can understand that in finding love through the risks, you only push yourself to lose self-meaning and character. There are many people you could blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, but one might also say the two households are responsible for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. An example of how the capulets play a part in this is when lady capulet says “Marry that ‘marry’ is the very theme I came to talk of. Tell me, daughter Juliet, how stands your disposition to get married”(Line fourteen, Act one Scene three, and Document B), the person one would blame in this quote would be the families(Capulet). This shows Lady Capulet is trying to pressure Juliet into getting married. Even after juliet says that she does not want to get married, her mother keeps pushing her into getting married by asking if she can “like of Paris’ love”( Line twenty four, Act…

In every good story, you always have your hero or main character who tries to achieve his or her goal, but the villain or antagonist has some reason to stop them from achieving it. Finally, a bystander is always watching this conflict go down and has nothing to say about it and just goes on with their life because they don’t have to worry about it. In the books: Romeo and Juliet, And Then There Were None, and To Kill a Mockingbird, the characters in their respected books all show the theme of injustice and show this in many different ways throughout the book. Juliet in Romeo and Juliet is the victim, Bob Ewell in To Kill a Mockingbird is shown as the perpetrator, and lastly Mr. Rogers in And Then There Were None is the bystander in the house.…

Romeo and Juliet has many elements of romance and tragedy, but some people argue that it is more of a romance than a tragedy. How can Romeo and Juliet be a romance if they were doomed from the start? Romeo and Juliet is more of a tragedy than a romance because their relationship was kept secret, they were not able to love each other to their full potential and they both commit suicide at the end due to a misunderstanding caused by one mistake. The first reason Romeo and Juliet is more of a tragedy than a romance is because they kept their relationship a secret. Because the Capulets and Montagues were enemies, Romeo and Juliet thought it was best to keep their love for each other and marriage hidden.…

Golding and Shakespeare have emphasise the importance of villains and their distorting motives in stories and how their deforming action are crucial to engage the audience. Without the antagonist, the story will become more straightforward and, thus, become a flat and dull story. Without Roger of Lord of the Flies pushing the boulder down that caused Piggy's death, civilisation will not cease to exist and their chance of survival remains high. Without Tybalt of Romeo & Juliet killing Mercutio and his cockiness that hinders him from owning up to his wrongdoings, Romeo would not have to flee from Verona which tumbles down the domino that caused his and Juliet's death. Both characters show a great deal of egocentrism and their inability to dissociate…

In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare advocates for the adoption of true love as opposed to courtly love in everyday life. At the time this play was written, many people still practiced the customs of courtly love and arranged marriages as a way of life. However, Romeo and Juliet had become a monumentally influential story which supports the argument that choosing your life partner based on true love was an idea that people of Shakespeare's time were ready for. Although this play shows that true love is superior to courtly love, it also proves that love can be constructive or destructive force depending on the level of impulsiveness. During the transition from courtly love to the preferable true love, the timeline…
