In the beginning of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo instantly falls in love with Rosaline because of her beauty, but Rosaline refrains from sharing her love with him, “She hath forsworn to love, and in that vow / Do I live dead that live to tell it now”(1.1.214-215). Although Romeo is head over heels in love with Rosaline, he must end their relationship if she will not share her love with him. After Rosaline tells Romeo that she will not share her love with him, Romeo becomes extremely upset, but still goes to a party that she had been invited to, just for the sight of her beauty.
When Romeo enters the party, he sees Juliet, and instantly falls in love with her, “Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! / For I ne'er saw true beauty till
