Festivals
Many festivities take place in rome specifically the colosseum. Festivals were held in rome for purposes like showing gratitude towards gods or celebrating great battles which ended in victory. There were three kinds of festivals, annual holidays that held a fixed date like worshipping gods or games, annual holidays that were moveable in other words feasts which magistrates or priests would handle the date, or holidays that were for special celebrations. Holidays on the other hand were either public or private, public holidays were celebrated and funded by the romans people while individual holidays were funded by the individual.
Music
Early Etruscan music had an influence on romans as it seems Romans were not that creative or original when it came to music, music was heavily apart of culture in terms of celebrations and events because of the audience that it would attract. Music was accompanied by spectators and events in the arena. Romans used music for all kinds of activities be it religious ceremonies or at sacrifices in order to , music contests were quite common and would attract many competitors including Nero himself. The Colosseum was home to events like gladiatorial battles, fights between men and wild animals, and public executions. The Circus Maximus was another entertainment theatre for the public which held 150,000 spectators, the Circus maximus is most known for its chariot races but also holds many other events and celebrations. People would gather at the Campus in order to take part in a wide variety of sporting events such as foot racing, jumping, archery, boxing, and wrestling afterwhich they would relax in the Tiber
