These days, rollercoasters could be easily seen at the amusement parks; however, roller coasters were not common back in ninetieth century. Also, in order to built a safe rollercoaster, the constructer must have an abundant knowledge in physics. The first rollercoaster in the world was built in Paris, France in 1817. Two of the rollercoasters were built in the same year in France: Les Montagnes Russe à Belleville and Promenades Aeriennes. These rollercoasters were known as the world’s first rollercoasters because “wheels were added to the sled” (Bitannica.com). Although the name of the constructor was unknown, the constructor received a motive from the ice sleds in Russia. Since the sled was only ridden in winter by the friction that occurred with the sled and ice, people could not ride the sled in the summer times. The constructor put the wheels to the sled, allowing people to ride it anytime of the year. In the beginning, there was no track for the sled; however, as more people became injured with the sled, tracks were developed to keep the sled within a certain position so that injury rate would decrease. The Promenades Aeriennes had heart-shaped track, which was the first rollercoaster with certain shaped track. In 1846, an amusement park in Paris, Frascati Garden, had the first rollercoaster with loop. The hill was forty-three feet and the radius was twenty-six feet.
