In the book, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor, Cassie goes to a town called Strawberry. While there, she was at a store and Mr. Barnett kept helping white families instead of them. Cassie got mad and started making a scene, so Stacey made her leave. On the way out, Cassie accidently bumped into Lillian Jean and Mrs Simms started yelling and hurting her when Cassie refused to step into the street for them to pass by.
