Environmental concerns are inherently global concerns because of the interconnectedness of the earth’s environmental systems and communities. Problems such as climate change, rising sea levels, desertification, pollution and species extinction affect people in all parts of the world. Environmental problems like these typically do not respect borders and pose challenges for international cooperation since they can threaten a states sense of sovereignty. It is here that questions arise as to what is meant in the international community by “global” and “governance”. As the notion of the word “global” denotes greater and far broader meaning than national or international which for the most part focus on states. If the world continues to ignore global environment politics as a whole many of the issues stemming it have the potential to pose very real consequences on peoples lives worldwide. Environmental issues have long been seen as far off issue that will happen in hundreds of years or that only affect the lives of animals, vegetation, ice caps, etc. but if they continue to be left untreated they will cause vast devastation across our planet that has he potential to cause vast loss of life. Around the globe seasons are changing, sea levels are rising, and temperatures are continuing to climb. The warming of the worlds oceans and the planet due to excessive green house gases being released has caused increased and unpredictable extreme weather phenomena such as floods, tornadoes, hurricanes and droughts. They are being seen more and more now than in the past. With these climatic patterns changing rapidly habitats on land and ocean are becoming inhospitable for other species to live and easier for others to come in and take over. Entire ecosystems are in our present day at risk of collapsing and without them many animals face the risk of extinction. The effects can also be felt in humans, as the change
