Rip Van Winkle Research Paper

There once was a man named Rip Van Winkle. He was kind, jolly, and a henpecked husband. Rip Van Winkle's wife would get mad at him for everything! She was always such a nag! However her husband would just nod his head and not argue. Although his wife was a tart all of the members of the town loved him. The children would play with him, the dogs didn’t bark as he walked by. He did things for everyone, but himself. One day Van Winkle was so tired of his with that he went into the mountains with his dog Wolf. Van Winkle loved the mountains they were his safe place to get away from the world. The Dwarves came drank the alcohol and went back to their game. Van Winkle being a man that like to drink started to drink the alcohol. It was the best alcohol that he had ever tasted, so he kept drinking, until he fell asleep. When he awoke he was back where he had first meet the small man. He had a gun beside him, but it was rusty while his gun was nice and shiny. He also couldn’t find Wolf he whistled and called but he wouldn’t come. Van Winkle decided that he would go and try to find the place where the small men were bowling. As he walked up the path it was a lot more overgrown than he remembered, but he continued on. When he arrived at the place it was full of water, a stream running down the the mountain. Then he thought that he should go back home even though he didn’t want to here the nitpicking from his wife. When he walked into town he didn’t recognize anyone and his house was caved in and abandoned. Soon he found his daughter who now had a child and Van Winkle discovered that he had been asleep for twenty years! His wife was dead his son acted just as he did before he fell asleep.
