Condition Description
Another name for this fungal infection is Dermatophytosis as well as Tinea. Ringworm is a fungal infection that is contagious and may happen in any part of an individual or animal’s body. Originally it was thought that the round red spots on the skin were caused by a worm, which is why they named it Ringworm. Later on they realized that it was not caused by a worm and was actually a fungus.
Symptoms
Ringworm causes a crusted and scaly rash that may appear as round red patches on the skin. It also causes patches of hair loss or scaling on the scalp, itching, and blister-like lesions.

Diagnosis
Ringworm is usually obvious due to the location and appearance. If it isn’t obvious or wants to be confirmed then skin scrapings for a microscopic examination and a culture of the

The tropical way to treat Ringworm is to put on anti fungal creams that contain clotrimazole, miconazole, keto conazole, econazole, naftifine, and terbinafine. Anti fungal creams can clear the condition in around two weeks. The systemic way would be to take oral medications that include terbinafine, itra conazole, and fluconazole. Oral medications must be taken for 3 months.

There are a number of different species of fungi involved in Ringworm. Trichophyton verrucosum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton equinum, Microsporum nanum, Microsporum gypseum, and Microsporum canis are the funguses that are involved in Ringworm. They attack different parts of the body to cause this fungal infection.

The different species of fungi that causes Ringworm may live and reproduce in humans, rodents, rabbits, dogs, cats, horses, cattles, swines, sheep, and soil. The site where the micro-organisms exit the body to enter another body are from the discharges from infected skin
